A townhouse is a living unit without another living unit above or below it. A townhouse may be attached to another living unit, however, it doesn’t have to be.
Another distinction is between a two-story house and a split-level house. In a two- story house, you enter on the main level and there is a level above the main level. In a split level, you enter on a landing entryway – there is a level above and a level below the entryway.
There is a ranch style and a ranch. A ranch style is a one level house with living space on one floor. A ranch is a large farm for raising animals.
How about a farm versus acreage? A farm is land used to grow crops or animals. Acreage is just land.
